The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter

April 14, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

12:15 PM Lunch Session:

“On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer’s”
This not a pity party or a misery memoir, says Greg O’Brien. It is an insider’s guide, a generational road map of how to battle this cunning killer for as long as possible. “All the darkness in the world cannot snuff out a single candle. I know that darkness. It’s a place I call Pluto”. In this session Greg O’Brien will share his story and Molly Purdue, PhD, Director of Family Services at Hope Health Care of Cape Cod, who collaborates with Greg, will offer her perspective.

2:45 PM Closing Session

“How to live and love in the presence of Alzheimer’s.”
In this closing session, Greg O’Brien and Dr. Perdue offer insights into living with Alzheimer’s disease and respond to questions from the audience. “Greg’s gift to all of us is his willingness to lift the veil of invisibility, allowing us to think differently about the disease, and to give those living with Alzheimer’s the understanding that their lives have meaning and purpose beyond the diagnosis.”

The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter serves the entire State of Maine from its Scarborough office. There are approximately 37,000 families in Maine who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.
